It’s not just good writing that you learn from— a terrible warning is educational, too! If you happen to read something that’s terrible— or even just meh— ask yourself what, exactly, made you think so.
Then, next time you write, make a conscious effort to do the opposite. Worst case scenario, you’ll veer too far and make the opposite error… from there on out, it’ll be just a matter of learning to bowl between the bumpers, as it were.
